Windows 7 Blue Screen--Need help
Many many times (50 since 6/15/10), I get the below message with varying BCC codes etc. I've seen various posts about upload the dump file to the http://skydrive.live.com/ and I'm ready to do that once a MS moderator replies. Please help. My system is: Windows 7 Home Premium with Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 Ghz, 3.00 GB, 32 bit OS. Can you also post the Event ID and Exception (something like 0x0000000) from the error event? If this was helpful, please vote by clicking the green triangle. If it solves the issue, click Propose as Answer. Thanks!

I used BlueScreenView to organize them in a table format, though I don't think I can upload that table. RC

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site? The following link has information on using Windows Live SkyDrive: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65 If you have problems zipping the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the Desktop.

The minidump files show various errors, such as PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, BAD_POOL_HEADER, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, etc. This would indicate a hardware problem with the first suspect being the RAM. How much RAM is installed? Have you checked the RAM with a memory tester such as Memtest86? Also, have you checked the hard drive for errors? The computer appears to be HP m1270n Media Center, is that correct? Also, did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor prior to installing Windows 7?

Auggy: Yes, it is a HP m1270n Media Center, and I did run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor prior to installing Windows 7. The BSOD started in June of this year, and I haven't determined what new software or drivers were installed in the last 3 months. I'll do a RAM test and hard drive check once I figure out "how-to." Thanks and please keep the suggestions coming! RC

I recommand to you to use the WhoCrashed software that reveals the drivers responsible for crashing your computer: http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed That should help you. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Auggy, did the Memtest86+ test, 2 passes, no errors. Now what?

I would suggest to run a chkdsk /r on the hard drive. Running a chkdsk /r has the potential to take a long time and, as general precaution, back up any critical files beforehand. Also, you may want to run Memtest86+ for a longer period of time, for several hours or overnight. Also, what Operating System was previously installed? Was it XP or Vista?

Chkdsk did not show any errors. Prior OS was XP. The BlueScreenView that puts the crashes in table format shows all kinds of "caused by driver" in the report, but the majority seem to be ntkrnlpa.exe or win32k.sys. What does that mean? Thanks RC

Hi Rick, HP had posted a firmware update for Vista for the original hard drive. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=443756#N653 You may be getting write\read errors. If you still have the original drive installed, try applying that update. Next, determine the drive manufacturer and download their diagnostic utility and test the drive. You'll need to burn a bootable cd. http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/ES_Tool.html link#2: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_ia_cd=05040200&prd_mdl_cd=SP2504C&prd_mdl_name=SP2504C
