Windows 7 Backup Verification?
Hey all, I have recently set-up one of my customers with Windows 7 on a new laptop. I have set-up the Windows 7 backup to an external HDD and now she is asking a question that I cannot answer, The first backup we did went perfectly and completed but she is now asking me how do we know that the backup it has created is not corrupt? as she had that problem on her previous laptop, it had backed up (non win7) and when she went to restore it told her the backup was corrupt. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

I know that on Windows 2008, when Windows Backup succeeds, there is a published event-id 4. Also, for every backup run, successful or failed, event-id 14 is generated. The event-data for this ID contains the overall status of the backup in the field 'HRESULT'. This should be 0 for a successful backup, non-zero otherwise. On Windows 7, there should be event IDs that are generated if a backup is done (sorry but I don't know their number). So, check the event IDs that are generated after having done a backup: they will tell you if all is okay or not.
