Windows 7 Backup Fails to Network Share
I have been trying unsucessfully to perform an image backup with Win 7 Enterprise to a NAS on my AD.Explorer shows the shared folder in the NAS and I am able to create new folders, permissions are not a problem (I am enterprise and local admin).Initial backup after install was sucessful. However, all attempts at backup up to a shared folder are unsucessful...checked username/password; entered in multiple ways..nothing works despite being able to connect to share in every other way. This is most definitely a problem with the backup command not recognizing the appropriate permissions ( I am doing this through the gui interface).Any thoughts...Thanks

Hi, According to your description, there are two methods to solve this issue: Method 1: Temporarily disable all the firewalls and anti-virus applications, and then to exclude the factors from other services and applications, do a clean boot to check the issue. (KB929135) How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista Please notice that the above knowledge base article instructions also work in Windows 7 Do a system image backup to NAS If the above method still cannot solve this issue, I recommend you contact your network administrator to help you troubleshooting this issue together. Method 2: Do a system image backup on a local hard drive, and then copy the backup files to the NAS folder How to Create a System Image Backup in Windows 7 If the issue still persist, please help me capture a screenshot about the detail error message, and then upload the screenshot to the forum, we can research it together. In addition, please confirm the following points: 1, What detail error message did you receive when doing a system image backup on NAS? 2, Did you receive any error when doing backup on another partition on local hard drive?3, Can you do a partition backup onNAS without choosing Include a system image of Drivers (C:)? This checkbox was checked by default. If this checkbox was checked, the backup process will contain the applications, which are installed in your system driver. Maybe some system files was used by other process, the backup process will failed in this situation. Now, I suggest you can uncheck this checkbox to test this issue again and let me know the result. However, if the problem still exists on the computer, please locate C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsBackup. There is a log named "Backup Files*_error.log" will be created when starting backup. We can check the detail error about the backup. And thenwe can research this log to find out the root cause. Thanks for your understanding and efforts. Betty
