This problem is due to one or more profiles under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList with missing ProfileImagePath. To check whether you have missing profiles: 1.Open regedit, navigate to the above registry key. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList). Expand the list 2.Click on each of the profiles listed. The first 3 profiles should have ProfileImagePath value of %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\SystemProfile, %SystemRoot%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService, and %SystemRoot%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService respectively. 3.Starting from the 4th profile, the ProfileImagePath should contain path to the user profiles on your machine, such as C:\users\Christine 4.If one or more of the profile has no profile image, then you have missing profiles. Thanks for the fast response. However, that is not the problem. The first 3 profiles have ProfileImagePaths as you describe. The 4th one is set to the user profile C:\Users\Garrett.

Hi Arthur, This KB article does not solve the problem I am having. When I press the Option button I do not have the option to "Check your backup results". I am able to see the following error in the "Backup Files 2010-08-24 023722_error.log" file: Windows Backup skipped P:\ because it cannot be found on drive P:\. Why is Windows 7 Backup trying to backup a network drive? Why does the whole process show a failure when this happens? Cole

Hi Arthur, I removed the picture library from the backup which was pointing to the P: drive below. I now have an empty "Backup Files*_error.log" file but still receive the 0x80070002 error. Please help. Cole
