Windows 7 Backup - only at scheduled time
I am trying to configure backup for a Windows 7 laptop (Win 7 ultimate os), which is backing up to a NAS drive, the schedule is set to run daily at midnight - but I only want this to run when the Laptop is powered on, and connected to the network, and only
at the scheduled time.
I had read that if the machine was powered off or not connected to the network then a backup would be skipped - which is what I want:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Set-up-or-change-automatic-backup-settings
However, this isn't what actually seems to happen.
The NAS is also being automatically backed up regularly.
I am finding that if I come into the office and switch on the Laptop - then the last missed backup starts up - which starts replacing the backup files on the NAS, while that is itself being backed up - which is definately not what I want to happen.
Is there a way of configuring Win 7 backup so that it either happens at the scheduled time, or it does not happen until the next scheduled time ?

Whenever you need to do multiple task steps, it is better to use script that tests connection to NAS and if it is available, scheduled backup follows

Redirect log output to file to see what happens.

ok,
so is it correct that Win 7 backup does not behave in the way that it states in the referenced documentation ? - and it cannot be configured to behave in that way ?
where can I find detailed examples of scripts that will do this ?
