Hi ADAskew,Regret the inconvenience caused to you. Windows backup does allow setting a daily schedule to backup. Regarding backup to DVDs, are you getting any error message when you try backup? Can you let me know exactlywhat issues you are facing with Windows backup so that I can try to help? Thanks,Sneha[MSFT]

Hi bigjohn_1,When Windows backup requires a new DVD, it sends a notification via Action center. Do you have the Windows backup alerts in Action center turned off? Can you open Backup and Restore control panel and click on View details to see if backup is waiting for a new DVD?Thanks,Sneha[MSFT]

Bigjohn_1, you should know it works fine for some of us. I just finished making a 4 DVD set myself, as well asmaking a backup to an external hard drive. That makes itseem likely you've changed something or installed something that's preventing the software from working on your computer, specifically. Please check Sneha's suggestion.-Noel

I'm having the same problem as bigjohn_1 -- When I try to backup I get 25% complete, same issue with DVD, program does not prompt to insert second disk. I really would like to create a backup. After clicking "view details" the only thing that is shown is basically the same thing: Windows backup is currently in progress. Title bar says "Windows Backup...25% complete." The only additional programs I have installed on my computer are: Photoshop cs3 Illustrator cs3 Acrobat Pro 8 InDesign cs3 Dreamweaver cs3 Adobe Reader Windows live messenger chrome firefox itunes pctools - spyware doctor, registry cleaner, privacy guard If one of these is preventing proper backup, then I suggest Microsoft get the issue corrected. I need to run these programs for my work. Also, there are several other reports out there of this issue. Just perform a basic Google search for "Windows 7 backup stuck" and you'll find that this is not an isolated issue. Any help you can offer in this area is much appreciated. Thanks, Chanster

I am also stuck at 25% . The CD only has 76kb left on it so there was data written. However, it would seem that the program did not have the ability to either finalize the disc or could not ask for a 2nd disc to be inserted and then just stopped writing altogether. Also, I needed to actually log out of windows to eject the CD as it would not allow the CD tray to open when I manually pressed the open tray button as well as going into COMPUTER folder and right clicking and selecting EJECT . I'm using Philips DVD-R 4.7 GB 120 min 1-16x speed and with 2 different attempts, each unsuccessful.

What are Microsoft doing? and why does the OS cost so much if we're still Beta testing years later? I tried to make a system image to DVD, please don't ask what DVD's I'm using it's not them they've been out for years and Ritek DVD's no matter what they are branded JUST WORK. It's the OS (Windows 7) that's what isn't working. I had little faith in MS to start with but now I believe in Ghosts more than I do in Microsoft's ability to sort a problem after they have our money. Thanks Guys for a faulty OS and can't do attitude.

Been using Windows 7 Backup now for years. I run it on schedule to ensure I have system image backups on external MyBook, I've used it to restore an entire RAID array onto brand new drives, I've made system image backups to DVD, and bootable recovery DVDs work just fine... It's a great backup system and works perfectly for everything I've asked it to do. If it's not working for you I suggest you have something wrong with your system. This is where buying good hardware pays off. -Noel
