Windows 7 BSOD 0x0000007E and 0x00000019 caused by Norton Internet Security 2010
Hi, I would like to share an issue I had with Windows 7 as I was unable to find the solution when I had the problem. This issue occurred on a Dell Vostro 1720 with Windows 7 Pro 64bit. The laptop was running extremely sluggish so I pressed alt-ctrl-del to view the Task Manager to find out what was causing the problem. Windows was unable to start the Task Manager and recommended I pressed ESC to exit or turn off the power to the system. ESC didn't do anything so I forced a shut down. After this Windows 7 would keep restarting and try and fix the problem on it's own. Before the restart a BSOD was displayed showing 0x0000007E or 0x00000019. In the end Windows gave up and suggested performing a System Restore. I didn't want this so I went through Safe Mode and disabled all start up items and services using msconfig. This still didn't work, however I noticed msconfig was unable to disable the Norton Internet Security. I then uninstalled NIS and all is working. Hope this helps someone, James

If you know the cause, why ask here? Try to get the latest version of Norton and if this doesn't work use a different AntiVirus tool."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

I had a similar problem recently and don't have Norton on my system. I use Avast (free version). I got the same error message 0x0000007E I don't know what has caused this problem but i got this error second time but I was able to restart my pc both times. Also I am experiencing lot of random freezes for couple of months. I am not sure if it is Windows 7 64 bit problem as I have windows XP 32 bit installed on another partition which runs without any issues. I use my computer mainly for running 64 bit Matlab version. I tried reading in different forums about fixing this random freeze issue, but i have not been successful so far. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated. My system configuration: Intel i7 920 processor 6 Gigs RAM (using 3 slots) Radeon 5770 Graphics card (XFX). Asus P6TD v2 Motherboard. Thanks for your time Rohit
