Windows 7 Auto logon
I am having trouble with autologon on windows 7 . I use it on public workstations at the houston public library. These computers autologon to a secure profile. Starting with windows 7 we have been having trouble keeping the systems in autologon mode. We are not sure why they keep going back to the logon on prompt. We are in an active directory domain with one 2008 r2 DC and one 2003 DC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. Since the situation you described is not clear, I would like to clarify the details. · How many computers have this issue? · How about in Safe Mode with networking? · What kind of user accounts are you using? Do they have password? If all computer have same problem, you can try to quit a computer from AD to see if the issue still persists. Please feel free to give us any update. Hi Miya, The problem seems to be unpredictable it happens throught our network enough that it is causing us some problems maintaining it. The problem does go away if logon local. We are using a guest user with a password on desktops and domain user on laptops with the same issue. I will test the logon not on the AD. Thanks Gilbert Cruz

Hello Gilbert, Could you let me know more details on the meaning of “auto-logon”? For local users who have password, we cannot bypass the logon phase. If you mean “Ctrl + Alt + Del” enforcement, this is by default enabled when the computer joins to the Active Directory Domain. The policy switch for this enforcement is at: Local Security Policy (secpol.msc) \ Security Settings \ Local Policies \ Security Options \ Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL As the security policy default settings tell: Default on domain-computers: Disabled. Default on stand-alone computers: Enabled. Thanks.
