Windows 7 Administrator Privileges
Having ALL kinds of issues with Administrator access. Installed W7 6 weeks ago, have two HD one for OPsys and the other for files etc. All going well, went to install a program from a disk, no admin rights. go to W7 help and follow commands, do to "local groups/users/administrator" open box, un-tick "account is disabled" box, all is good. When we turn on, there are the two buttons came up, we didntt want that so go back to the appropriate box in user/administrator and re-tick "account is disabled" all is good. A few weeks later, want to install something else, guess what? It won't let me un-tick the box! pee-ed orf! Been trying the CD_prompt method as below but this comes up: Typed in "net user administrator /active:yes" Result: "System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied" Need some help, I found this thread http://www.pcmech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207489 and they had EXACT problem. The admin box is greyed out in every thing?? I'm not a boffin, so need a simple fix, please! Thanks v/much

If your current user account is not an administrator account, you are not able to enable another administrator account. I suggest you boot in Safe Mode and in Safe Mode you will be able to log on with the built-in Administrator account. You can configure your current user account. I recommend that you improve it to be an administrator account. Arthur Xie - MSFT
