Windows 7 : Previous versions on NetApp storage
Hi My home folder at work is held on a NetApp storage system. I have upgraded my client PC to Windows 7 and I can no longer access the previous versions of files held on the NetApp storage which i did on XP.Presumably this is because Windows 7 has this feature built in which overrides the NetApp version.I can access previous versions by going into the hidden .snapshot directory on the root of my home folder.Any ideas would be most appreciated. This may also be an issue with other Storage systems.

Hello,What's error mesage you get when trying to access "the previous versions of files" by NetApp?Try to disable the Windows build-in "previous versions of files" feature:1. Click start buton, right click Computer and choose properties.2. On left panel, click Advanced system settings.3. Click System Protection tab, Highlight the drives that has protection on, click Configure button, select "Turn off system protection".If the problem still happens, I recommend you contact NetApp to find out if this feature can work in windows 7. Hi Thomas_77 I do not get any errors on accessing the previous versions function on the NetApps filer head. It appears that the NetApps Filer Head is currently only using CIFS 1.0 and that CIFS 2.0 is turned off (default). I have requested that this be changed as I and a colleague are assuming this is more than likely the issue as XP clients work ok. If this doesn't work I will turn off system protection as suggested.
