Windows 7 64 hangs on login (INTEL SSD 160g x25)
Hello, My windows 7 seems to semi-hang whenever I login. The problem has only started occuring after I installed an SSD as my boot drive. But it didnt happen right from the begining. I have the lates bios drivers for my PC as well as the latest intel firmware for the SSD. I tried disabling all startup programs but that made no difference. Basically the only application which seems to run is Firefox. Everything else sits there for about 5~8m after I click on the icon and then all my clicks will run at once when the o/s (hd?) has caught up. I get little thinking circles on my internet dependent gadgets as well as in the internet icon on my taskbar. However the internet seems to work fine right from the get go. CPU usage is zero, no hard disk thrashing either. Thanks all.

I don't have an SSD, but I'm curious about them. Did you move your paging file to a non-SSD? What about your Temporary Internet Files? Even though the drive use is at zero, I'd still run Intel's diagnostic program if you haven't already: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18455&lang=eng You could also try monitoring your boot with bootmgr: http://hensonsturgill.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!818B7EF7346F2C9E!205.entry Hope this helps!

Hi, I ended up trying all sorts of things but nothing worked - until I upgraded my PC to a modern motherboard (previous just hit 5 years old) and its working fine now. Thanks for the info and tips.
