Windows 7 64 bit will not recognize printers - HP Photosmart 3300 series and C5180 All-In-One
We had a power outage and now I can't print to either of my printers. We have all the computers - 3 laptops and a desktop - connected to our home network. The C5180 printer is wired to my Acer computer. The 3300 series is wireless. I have used every troubleshooting option in my computer to fix these things. Nothing works! I have downloaded the drivers for the 3300 series and still no luck. I haven't even begun to work on the C5180 printer yet. Also, my computer no longer recognizes the other computers or any printes on the network. This all used to work fine, but not now. It seems that whenever there is an update (either HP or Windows, I'm not sure which), I loose connection with the printers. I have been working on this for two days and cannot find the answer. I am so frustrated! PLEASE help! I'm sure there is something in a setting somewhere, but I don't know where to look or how to find it. Everything used to work ... now it doesn't. Please make this answer "simple" ... I am not a technical person. Thanks, foodkop

Hi, Can you access the printers on other three machines? Does other machine access to each other normally? To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps. 1. Upgrade the NIC driver and temporarily turn off firewall for a test. 2. Assure the following services are started: Computer Browser, Server, Workstation 3. Modify relevant settings on Windows 7 machine. a. Click Start and open Control Panel. b. Open "Network and Sharing Center" and click "Advanced sharing settings". c. Expand the current network profile (such as "Home or Work"), and then select the following options: "Turn on Network Discovery", "Turn on file and printer sharing", "Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders", "Turn off password protected sharing" 4. Write down the IP address for another network machine. Click Start button in Windows 7 and type \\IP address for the network machine, and then press enter. Can you access the network computer now? If there is any error message, please capture it and upload it here for research. Thanks, Novak

Check to see if your firewall is blocking spoolsv.exe from accessing the network. McAfee alerted me, and unthinking I blocked network access to this, which shut down the Print Spooler! All other machines had no problems accessing the printer(s).
