Windows 7 64 bit Wireless Dropping Every Hour (not drivers)
Hello My Win 7 64 ultimate pro edition has since I installed it dropped the router connection every hour. I have a Dell XPS M1530 and before you claim it's a driver problem I have already purchased a Netgear USB dongle made to support Windows 7 64 bit and the problem still happens. Every place I look people (including MS employees) always blame the drivers but I've cycled through old and new drivers for both the internal Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG and the Netgear N150 Wireless USB adapter. Someone please help as this is getting completely unusable and I'm about to switch to a different OS. Additional Info: Connecting into wired does not disconnect me it is definitely Windows x64 causing this. Spyware and Virus checks with MS Security Essentials and Malware Bytes and HiJackThis all normal.

Go into the router and change the channel is broadcasting on by at least 3 to avoid interferance from other wireless devices. If you are broadcasting on channel 6, try channel 1 or channel 12. Download Netstumbler to see what channels are in use in your neighborhood. Also, make sure you have the latest firmware for your router. Jerry

Hi, I notice your computer is not compatible with Windows 7 operating system. The latest drives from manufacture site are for Windows Vista. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=XPS_M1530 Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. You can try another computer with Windows 7 64-bit using wireless to test the issue or perform a Clean Boot on the current OS. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Please also update the router's firmware and check the following settings. Beacon Interval = 50 Fragmentation & RTS threshold = 2306 each Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
