Windows 7 64 bit - error 1231
Greetings I recently purchased a network drive, which i have connected to my router to acces it from both my laptop (running win 7 home premium 32 bit) and my desktop (running win 7 ultimate 64 bit) everything works fine on my laptop, both wired and wireless. I can see the drive in the network and assign it a drive letter in my computer however, i can not find it on my desktop. Both wireless and wired show no result I tried disabling the firewall, i tried connecting manually using \\networkdrivename\folder and \\ip-adres. I compared the network settings and shared files & printer setting on both win 7 systems, but couldn't find a difference. When i go to cmd prompt on my laptop and i type ''net view'' i see \\networkdrivename and \\laptopname ''net view'' on the win 7 64 bit shows NO results, not even my own desktop name. When i try to manually map the drive (on desktop) using ''net use x: \\networkdrivename\folder i get error 1231 But sending a ping to the networkdrive ip adress (which is 198.168.1.103 by the way) gives perfect result

Hi, Before going any further, I would like to verify what happens when you try connecting manually using \\networkdrivename\folder and \\ip-adress. In addition, can you ping the network drive using network drive name? Error 1231 is a network problem that occurs due to connectivity problem or network trouble shooting. Please try to disable IPV6 under the LAN adapter. It’s possible that favor IPV6 over IPV4 since it is thought that this could cause the problem. You can follow these steps to disable IPV6: 1 Click “Start” 2 Input “Network and Sharing Center” in Search box and press Enter 3 Click “Change adapter settings” on left pane 4 Right click “Local Area Connection” can click “Properties” 5 Remove the option of “Internet Protocol Version 6” 6 Click “OK” Also make sure the "Client for Microsoft Network" is installed. Install "Client for Microsoft Network" =================== 1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press Enter. 2. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". 3. Please check if "Client for Microsoft networks" is listed. 4. If not, click Install button. 5. High light Client in the list and click Add button. 6. Select Client for Microsoft Network and click OK. And please make sure you have full permission to visit this share folder. yes, i already tried that i removed IPV6 i even removed my NIC completly from Device Manager and rebooted i deactivated and reactivated ''client for microsoft network'' and ''file & printer sharing'' i even changed in my security settings - LAN Manager to ''... use NTLMv2 if negotiated...'' (which i found in some other threads) i am able to ping my NAS using ''ping <NAS name> however in the thread you provided me, someone was talking about ''hidden devices'' in device manager i turned that on, and i have about 300 ''Microsoft 6to4 adapter #<number> '' I guess that's not normal? Can i remove those without crashing my system?

Yes, you can remove this hidden device. These device is not present or not working properly or does not have all drivers installed. Removing these hidden device will not damage your system.
