Windows 7 64: Black Screen for 10 seconds after user login
I've recently bought a new sony vaio Z 228 with windows 7 64 instaled on it. After a few days were the pc used to start up in a few seconds, I started experiencing a serious problem with a black screen appearing for around 10 seconds after my login. Can anyone help me with this issue?

I've restored windows to a previous version and this issue has been solved. It is apparently due to one of the following 3 microsoft updates: KB2656356: Security update for Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5.1 on windows 7 for x64-based systems KB2656351: Security update for Microsoft .Net Framework 4 on windows 7 for x64-based systems KB2467173: Security update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable package Can these updates be reviewed?Andrea Mantegazza

Hi, These updates should not cause BSOD. Before publishing, all the updates are verified. If you encounter a BSOD again in the future, please upload dump file to Skydrive and post a link here. Thanks.Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

I think it's a problem with all computers that do that if it's not your Video card. Also, please open Control Panel -> Backup and Restore -> Recover system settings or your computer -> Open System Restore -> follow the wizard to restore the system to the state before the issue occurred. If your screen goes to a blue or black screen, i think you should change your video card.

Apparently the only solution is restoring the system taking out the updates reported above. The videocard is not an issue since when not connected to the docking station the noteboook just use the integrated intel chipset. Shouldn't Microsoft verify these updates and assure itself not to issue ones that really harm performances of their own os? These three updates casued a delay of 15 seconds in startup from the logon onward (with black screen...) Andrea Mantegazza

Hi, Please keep monitoring the issue, if you encounter the same issue in the future, please report back. But based on my experience, these updates should not be the culprit. I also installed them and havenot encountered any issue.Juke Chou TechNet Community Support
