Windows 7 64-bit internet connection issues
Hi, I recently purchased a new computer and installed Windows 7. My copy of 7 is an upgrade disc (used on my old computer which had XP), so I tried the 'double-install' method (clean install onto the drive, then insert the setup disc and select 'upgrade'). This didn't work either, so I called tech support, got the confirmation ID and activated it fine. However, my issue is that only specifically 64-bit applications can connect to the internet - Internet Explorer 8 64-bit and Teamspeak 3 64-bit both work perfectly, whereas Chrome, Firefox, Steam, various games etc cannot. Any ideas? EDIT: oh yeah, if I boot Linux on the same computer it works perfectly.

Hi, Currently, to make this issue clear, I suggest you to boot into Safe Mode with Networking to check the result. Advanced startup options (including safe mode) If this issue does not occur in safe mode, you could perform Clean Boot to find what culprit is. If this issue persists, we could try the following steps to see if it works: 1. Please open an elevated command prompt, type the following command: netsh winsock reset 2. Update your BIOS, chipset driver and network adapter driver to the latest. Hope it helps.
