Windows 7 32bit Retail-Live Question
I have always used Outlook Express which I had no problems with. Now that it is not being updated or followed I had to go to Windows Live. Now it's "ok" but I don't care for a few things. I am not sure if I am using it right or not though. On OE I could check my mail as often as I wanted and it downloaded everything. Is there a place to make it like that? I am ready to find a new email program and ditch this Live thing. I am not caring for it...Jo Lynn Francis

Try Thunderbird (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/ ), I like it better than the Live stuff.Hello! Well, nothing against Thunderbird. But what's this "On OE I could check my mail as often as I wanted and it downloaded everything." problem? Windows Live Mail works the same way. My overall impression is: It integrates itself very well in IE8, synchronizes your e-mail-accounts fine, is half-way smart (recognizes junk mail after a few user actions), and it's fast. Outlook 2010 is better, but only by better file management facilities.Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)

I click on inbox and it will only download mail like every hour. I click and click but will only download when it wants. Anyway around that? I had OE set at every minute. I am on a ton of yahoogroups.Jo Lynn

The above is the 'correct' answer. The use of Thunderbird mail client is not a 'solution' which assists the user to configure his/her preferred mail client.:)

The above is the 'correct' answer. The use of Thunderbird mail client is not a 'solution' which assists the user to configure his/her preferred mail client. :) Hmm, see your point, but did you see this line of the post: "I am ready to find a new email program and ditch this Live thing. I am not caring for it..." So they are ready to switch to another client, and live mail is not their "preferred" client.Hello! But I can't figure out how to get there.....it's exactly whatI am looking for....but don't see how to get there Tap the <Alt> key, to bring up the Menu Bar at top of Live Mail Windows. Then choose 'Options' from the 'Tools' menu item. The settings you need are to be found on the 'General' tab.Cheers, and enjoy!

On the bar up top is just for IE. I don't have all the options for mail there. My tech dude is new to the Live thing too. So he sent me here.....Jo Lynn

Jo Lynn, the instructions provided there are for the Windows Live Mail application. They are correct. I checked and confirmed that they work before posting the above. Are you actually running the Live Mail application, or are you accessing your mail from within Internet Explorer? This is how Live Mail looks when you run the application:http://www.activewin.com/screenshots/windows7/Windows%20Live%20Mail.pngTapping the <Alt> key whilst in that application will bring up the menu bar, and it will appear above the toolbar and below the application title bar.
