Windows 7 32 bit locks files transfered from portable drives.
I have 2 portable usb drives and used to be able to tranfer files freely from one place to another. Howeever now i am unable to do this with windows 7 32 bit. I have also found that i cant load my ipod with any files from C drive, network drives, or any portable devices. Every time i look at a files sharing it continues to show the lock and say " nobody" . At one point i got it to stop with the lock and nobody but then went to advanced settings and even after changing settings , no luck. Can someone shed some light on this please, and let me know the work around. Thanks

Hi, Have you tried to update your BIOS and chipset driver? Also, Enter BIOS, go to “Advanced”->“USB Configuration”, make the USB 2.0 configuration enabled. If this could not help, try to reinstall the USB controller driver. First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: 1. Click "Start", type "Device Manager" (without the quote) in the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary. 2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the "Host Controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK". 3. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. Meanwhile, you can download the following hotfix to see how it works: You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM Hope it helps.
