Windows 7 - Windows Installer 5
FYI - I have looked at what is here on the posts Re: Win 7 installer, Windows7 Chrash and Windows installer 5 ... none work. This error occurs when the InstallShield application is corrupted or is damaged. Follow the methods listed below to fix the issue: Method 1: Rename the InstallShield folder a. In Windows Explorer or in My Computer, open the following folder: DRIVE \Program Files\Common Files\ b. Right-click the Installshield folder, and then click Rename. c. Type InstallShield1, and then press ENTER. d. Try to install the program. e. If the problem continues to occur, go to Method 2. Method 2: Locate and then close the files. To resolve this problem, locate, and then close the Idriver.exe and Msiexec.exe files. To do this, follow these steps: a. Open the Task Manager. To do this, click Start, type taskmgr in the Start Search box, and then click taskmgr.exe in the Programs list. b. On the Processes tab, in the Image Name column, locate idriver.exe and msiexec.exe. c. Select each instance of both processes, and then click End Process. d. Click End Process on each Windows Task Manager window that opens. e. Using windows 7 that only uses the version 5 installer it then corrupted my dll's somewhere on the pc ... guess system or system32 folder or something, i renamed the folder back to the original state it was and got this error I decided to not mess with it further, to sort it later i had some work to do so started working on charting software, somewhere during my work the same day it came up that i needed to install Java on Chrome to view charts. "Windows installer service could not be accessed. This can Occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support Personel for Assistance" I thaught oh well lets see what happens if i install anything else ... NOTHING WANTS TO INSTALL, NOT EVEN JAVA UPDATE OR DOT NET FRAMEWORK UPDATE ... EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM I TRY INSTALLING GIVES ME THE SAME ERROR, NOW THE INSTALLER IS CORRUPT .... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MICROSOFT WHO TELLS ME ON THE SUPPORT LINE TO GIVE THEM MY CODE FOR WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE ONLY TO TELL ME SORRY ... I NEED TO CONTACT THE COMPANY WHERE I PURCHASED THE LAPTOP FROM TO GIVE ME SUPPORT ON THE OPERATING SYSTEM THEY THEM SELVES WROTE - THE COMPANY I PURCHASED THE MACHINE FROM ONLY SELLS COMPUTERS THEY DON'T SUPPORT THE OS OR ANY SOFTWARE LOADED ON IT ... SO NOW AFTER THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS I NEED TO GIVE OUT MORE JUST SO I CAN GET ONE SIPLE ANSWER OUT OF THESE PEOPLE HOW DO I GET THE WINDOWS INSTALLER VERSION 5 BACK TO WHAT IT WAS WITHOUT RE-DOING MY ENTIRE COMPUTER ? IS THERE NOT A PATCH THAT CAN JUST RE-INSTALL WIN INSTALLER 5? MY PC CANT STAY LIKE THIS SO I'M GOING TO HAVE TO RE-DO THE OS IN THE NEXT 7 DAYS IF THERE IS NO FIX. Thanx guys and gals :) for reading, I think this is one of those nasty little errors that won't ever be fixed like the thousands of others in the other OS's ... i thought it was a virus at first ... ??

Hi, According to your description, it seems the Windows Installer Service have not been started. you may start the service manually. To do this, follow these steps: 1.Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Manage.If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2.In the console tree, click Services and Applications, and then click Services. 3.In the details pane, right-click Windows Installer, and then click Start. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
