Windows 7 - Update Error 8024402F
I have an Acer Ferrari One laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 preinstalled. Just recently, everytime I try and get windows updates, it gives me a 8024402F. The KB for the said error suggests that this is a network problem, but in my case, there are two computers connected to the network, all of them windows 7 x64 and the other computer, a PC, didn't have any windows update problems. Detail of the error below: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:393 1020 130c AU Triggering AU detection through DetectNow API 2011-04-30 22:38:23:393 1020 130c AU Triggering Online detection (interactive) 2011-04-30 22:38:23:394 1020 1094 AU ############# 2011-04-30 22:38:23:394 1020 1094 AU ## START ## AU: Search for updates 2011-04-30 22:38:23:394 1020 1094 AU ######### 2011-04-30 22:38:23:397 1020 1094 AU <<## SUBMITTED ## AU: Search for updates [CallId = {5E1C414A-FA73-4C34-B78D-FF7C91F9A52A}] 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent ************* 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent ** START ** Agent: Finding updates [CallerId = AutomaticUpdates] 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent ********* 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent * Online = Yes; Ignore download priority = No 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent * Criteria = "IsInstalled=0 and DeploymentAction='Installation' or IsPresent=1 and DeploymentAction='Uninstallation' or IsInstalled=1 and DeploymentAction='Installation' and RebootRequired=1 or IsInstalled=0 and DeploymentAction='Uninstallation' and RebootRequired=1" 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent * ServiceID = {7971F918-A847-4430-9279-4A52D1EFE18D} Third party service 2011-04-30 22:38:23:398 1020 1100 Agent * Search Scope = {Machine} 2011-04-30 22:38:23:404 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\WuRedir\9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77\muv4wuredir.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:414 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:23:600 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\WuRedir\9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77\muv4wuredir.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:608 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:23:623 1020 1100 Agent Checking for updated auth cab for service 7971f918-a847-4430-9279-4a52d1efe18d at http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/microsoftupdate/redir/muauth.cab 2011-04-30 22:38:23:623 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\AuthCabs\authcab.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:631 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:23:714 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\AuthCabs\authcab.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:722 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:23:723 1020 1100 Setup Checking for agent SelfUpdate 2011-04-30 22:38:23:724 1020 1100 Setup Client version: Core: 7.5.7601.17514 Aux: 7.5.7601.17514 2011-04-30 22:38:23:730 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\WuRedir\9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77\muv4wuredir.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:738 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:23:818 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\WuRedir\9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77\muv4wuredir.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:826 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:23:835 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\wuident.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:23:843 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:24:298 1020 1100 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\wuident.cab: 2011-04-30 22:38:24:307 1020 1100 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2011-04-30 22:38:24:310 1020 1100 Setup Skipping SelfUpdate check based on the /SKIP directive in wuident 2011-04-30 22:38:24:311 1020 1100 Setup SelfUpdate check completed. I already referred to that KB as what i have said earlier. I have tried the suggested solutions, but none works. My internet connection is good, and another windows 7 pc connected to the same network as this laptop has its windows update properly working so i think this is not a network related error but rather software related. What can I do? Is there anyway to reset windows update on windows 7?
