Windows 7 - Temporary profile when logging onto a Windows 2003 Server
I get a warning after I logon telling me I am logged on with a temporary profile. In the users folder I can see the temp.mydomain folder. All the other XP machines have no problem logging on but this one Windows 7 does. I have even recreated a user but this happens all the time, I have reinstalled Windows 7 twice but with no difference . I have tried the method of the " was getting the temporary profile issue despite being able to find and browse the old profile in the share etc. What I stumbled across is that in the profile folder windows 7 shoudl create a .V2 folder which contains the newer Windows 7 profile alongside the existing XP/2000 compatible one." but this doesn't work - please help. Thanks Sharon

Hi, I would like to suggest you navigate to the following registry and delete the subkey named as SID.bak to troubleshoot the issue. For more information, please refer to the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947242 If it does not work, you may also submit the question to Windows Server Forum. Since they have more information regarding domain, your issue can be answered effectively. I'm glad to read your post. I'm going through the same experience when trying to create a user's profile in a Win 7 PC against a Win 2k3 domain. We also have a Win 2k8 production domain, and as a test, I joined the Win 7 PC to that Win 2k8 domain, and when tried to create a user profile in that Win 7 PC against that 2K8 domain, it created it with no problems. What is most interesting is that I had successfully created a user profile in that Win 7 C in the Win 2k3 domain. The problem started after I performed a Windows Update on it. Please if you make any progress, let me know. Raul

I also have the same problem. Cannot find a solution. If sent to a link, please send to a fix, not another set of links with time wading through to find a solution. Still no joy...help..S
