Windows 7 - Ping to ISP Very Slow
Hello, Using Windows 7 Professional x64, my Ping has been very slow, and is very high to my ISP. On my other devices, such as a Windows XP x86 and PlayStation 3 - my ping has been normal (between 15-19ms). Here are the results I'm getting using my Windows 7 laptop: http://www.speedtest.net/result/723914262.png http://www.speedtest.net/result/724013867.png Any idea what it could be? It's been like this for around the last 3/4 days. Some website won't even load at all, such as anything Google related (Search Engine, YouTube, Advertisments even). And downloads are VERY slow.

Mouzreaper, I like Speedtest.net, and I use it myself often, but one point of caution here, is that they automatically detect where you are and assign you a server based on your location. For me, it is almost always wrong, and they pick somewhere across the country. Can you ping your DG, and maybe "microsoft.com" and post those outputs? A couple points of clarification: What type of ISP connection are you using? Also, are you connecting wirelessly to you home router or are you hardwired? Low Hanging Fruit: -Update network drivers -Disable the windows firewall service -Disable any AV you may have -Make sure you set the connection type to "Home" If you need extra help, you can reach us at: InitialAssist@cbfive.com See my blogs at http://www.cbfive.com/blog - Jared Crandall

Hi, I agree with Jared. Since the result is based on the server location, we cannot assure the result is correct and useful to troubleshoot Internet issue. If some website cannot be accessed and download performance is slow, I suggest you also try the following steps. 1. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and check the result. 2. Bypass the router or switcher and access the problematic machine again. 3. Move the machine in another network location for a test. Thanks, Novak
