Windows 7 - Import settings for scanner
hi i have recently upgraded a clients computer to windows 7. They use an AIO Canon MP600 printer/scanner The first time they scanned through devices and printers, an import/TAG box appeard asking them where to save the pictures, do you want to tag the picture etc... The many time they scan after, it doesnt show up and it always saves to the last chosen place. Its not what they want. Is there a way to get this back, is there a way to reset the import settings when scanning documents? Any advice Thanks

The most likely cause would be that the driver/software retained during the upgrade install to Windows 7 is actually incompatible. Best solution would be to uninstall relevent device driver and software, download up to date software/driver for Windows 7, and install that.Download location is here:http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=13800Please be sure to correctly select 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7. Driver/software is available for either, but different versions are used.

actually, there's a check box to turn that import window off. i did so, now want it back, and can't figure out how to find that settings window. thousands of bing searches yield nothing. this person was having the same problem and some microsoft dweeb is like "ohhhh it's the drivers." it's a check box, not the drivers. where is the check box?

Dear friend.I found the problem and spent time to solve it . here you are: Do one of the following: Connect a camera to your computer by using the camera's USB cable, and then turn on the camera. Connect a portable device that contains pictures or videos to your computer by using the device's USB cable, and then turn on the device. Insert a removable flash memory card, such as a Secure Digital (SD) or CompactFlash memory card into a memory card reader. Connect a scanner to your computer by using a USB cable, and then turn on the scanner. Insert a data CD or DVD that contains pictures or videos into your CD/DVD drive. In the AutoPlay dialog box that appears, click Import pictures and videos using Windows. To change the settings that are used when importing pictures and videos, click Import settings in the Import Pictures and Videos dialog box. Change one or more settings in the Import Settings dialog box, and then click OK. ---------------------------------------------------------- Yours Friendly, Khosro_shirin@yahoo.com

None of you answered the original question. The question has nothing to do with any driver whatsoever. The question is about Windows Photo Gallery's inability to change scanner import changes. One you set dont-ask-question, the only way to change the scanner import folder and to reenable the tag question is to cat h the "Import Settings" clicable line during the 1-2 second import duration. I tried to click on it multiple times, but ot doesn't accept clicks. This is a Windows Photo Gallery shortcoming (lack of feature), not a driver issue. Windows Photo Gallery is deficient in this manner and is not usable. See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/how-to-change-import-settings-when-importing/973a11cf-deba-4861-b35d-66568e88b4ab for a work-around-the-incapability way: use the registry.
