Windows 7 - DHCP lease time ignored with 802.1x
Hi all, I'm using a Windows 7 native supplicant with 802.1x. The re-authentication timer is set to 3 minutes on the authenticator (juniper netscreen box). Each reauth triggers a DHCP renewal, so every 3 minutes an IP address is reassigned to the client. The DHCP lease time is set to 3 days. This is not an issue when an XP SP3 device is connected to the same the authenticator. I appreciate any thoughts! Thanks

Hi, What if you temporary disable IPv6 on Windows 7? Does it work? Regards, Leo HuangLeo Huang TechNet Community Support

Hi Leo, Just tried your suggestion but came up with the same results. Disabled IPv6 on the NIC, under "Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)", "TC Checksum Offload (IPv6)", and "UDP Checksum Offload (IPv6)". Where can I go to disable IPv6 all together? Thanks,

I found the registry edit online to disable IPv6, but unfortunately still having same issue... Link that explains this regedit is: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-ipv6-in-windows-7/ Seemed like a good idea. Any other thoughts? Thanks

Hi, Also you can try to logon with Safe Mode with networking, and temporary disable firewall and antivirus for test. Regards, Leo HuangLeo Huang TechNet Community Support
