Windows 7 - Cannot connect to my pop server to send mail
Ok.... I have looked in every forum I could find, tried every single idea offered and still, I am in the same place. I own my own domains and use those email accounts for various things... Up until Windows 7 I have never had a single problem, I connect to the pop server, download my email, if I want, I hit reply and it connects to the server on the way out. At first I thought it was outlook, so I downloaded every email client known to man, and got the same error. I found a couple of places that said I needed Windows Mail to update the drivers to make this connection work... Nothing I found some that said my port needed to be changed... I bet I tried every number from 1 to 999.. nothing I found some that said SSL... nothing I found some that said secure... nothing I reinstalled all software I reinstalled Windows 7 I formatted my hard drive and installed it again after the previous attempts So... PLEASE.... someone offer some help!! All I want to do is be able to receive and send email on my own servers. Again, until my install of Windows 7, I have never had a single issue just an fyi, mail.sobonana.com is my mail server

You RECEIVE your mail through the POP3 server and SEND mail through the SMTP server. You would need to set up your mail client to connect to an SMTP server, which is usually sitting on port 25.

What firewall settings should I look at? At one point I turned off my firewall completely, including disabling my virus software and it didn't make any changes.

Hi, my mail server is both for incoming and out going. As mentioned, this has always worked perfectly fine until Windows 7. Further, I can send and receive on my iPhone, or a web based application (mail2web) with the same settings without an issue.... and yes, for outgoing, it is P25

Could you tell us some detail information? You may check if the following article is applied. You cannot connect to an MSN POP3 server from Outlook 2007 or from earlier versions of Outlook on a Windows Vista-based computer Also you may uninstall the antivirus program and check the result. As I know for some antivirus programs although you disable them, some of the engines is still running. Also, please let us know if you need to connect to the server via any proxy.Arthur Xie - MSFT
