Windows 7 - All Shortcuts on Start Menu opening as WordPad Documents
Today while goofing off i tried opening a folder as a wordpad document. It automatically set this as the default way to do this for all programs / shortcuts on my start menu. Is there an easy way to undo this or should i simply try to restore back a few days? -When opening via start menu using the "open with" option i see wordpad and browse. -When i open these programs as wordpad documents i see the path embedded in the document

I don't know the answer to your specific issue, but I do *hate* that the [ ] Always use the selected program to open this kind of file is checked by default. I haven't done what you have done, but I have managed to associate things I didn't want associated. What I'd do if I were you is look in the Set Default Programs control panel pane.1. Click the Start orb.2. Enter association in the search box.3. Click Set your default programs when it comes up.4. Wait a few moments for the panel to fill in.5. Click WordPad.6. Click the Choose defaults for this program link at the bottom.Folders have no extension, and without reproducing your problem exactly I can't say what you'll see, but you'll want to see if you can disassociate WordPad from files with no extension. I don't know if it'll do the whole job either.Good luck.-Noel
