Windows 7 -- Not able to stream video or load web pages with intensive flash.
I have searched this forum for an answer. I upgraded from Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Ultimate. Previous to this point I could stream video and access websites with intensive flash (essentially any site with some sort of streaming video). I have a system with a ASUS motherboard, amd athelon 64 dual core and nVidia drivers for the onboard Nic specifically. nVidia also for the Video card itself. System is connected to a Netgear router along with 3 other PC's. Other PC's have no connection problem. Their OS's are pre-Win 7. I tried some suggestions mentioned on this site. Upgraded Netgear router to lasted version of software. Connected directly to broadband modem. No change. Looking for other suggestion/solutions.

hello. Is the ethernet card light working on the computer which doesnt connect? I had the same problem too. some systems which work with windosws 7 can sometimes connect and sometimes fail to connet to the internet. I have tried everything but it didnt solve my problem. The last thing I did was to change my power supply and that solved my problem. PS: I used a asus mainboard too. Regars.

Hi, I think we need to determine if this is a Internet connection or a IE & Flash Player issue. To make sure the Internet connection is fine, you may check if you can access the Internet normally. If so, I suggest you disable antivirus program to test the issue. To confirm if this is a IE & Flash Player issue, you may reset IE settings first. Reset Internet Explorer 8 ============================= Note: the following steps will remove all of installed add-ons and reset IE to default settings. We need to reinstall the add-ons after resetting. 1. Click "Start", type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotation marks) into Search bar and press "Enter" to open the Internet Options window. 2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab. 3. Click "Reset" to reset Internet Explorer settings. 4. Check "Delete personal settings" box and click "Reset" to confirm the operation. 5. Click "Close" when the resetting process is complete. 6. Click Restore advanced settings button and click OK. 7. Close the Internet Explorer window and restart IE to check the issue. After that, I suggest you uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash Player. Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability. If the issue persists, I also suggest you test the issue in Clean Boot. Good luck!Arthur Li - MSFT

Sorry, spending 12 hours a day over the last 5 days moving computers has made me a bit slow. I left out a detail. Yes, when streaming video like with youtube, I have this issue. However, when I want to download large files, 10 megs or higher this happens. The network connection dies. My browser of choice is Firefox version 3.0.14.

Hi, Does it work normally with Internet Explorer 8? You may also try to uninstall, reinstall Adobe Flash Player for Firefox, and test the issue in Clean Boot to check the issue.Arthur Li - MSFT

Hi, Does it work normally with Internet Explorer 8?+ No. You may also try to uninstall, reinstall Adobe Flash Player for Firefox, and test the issue in Clean Boot to check the issue. Did this with Clean Boot. No change. Again I said I have the current nVidia nForce drivers from MS. What else do you recomend

I'm suggesting newer drivers for your video card; if you can get any type of connection to the Internet I doubt it's the NIC choking on small vector animations. However, just go for the complete package I guess (NIC drivers included):http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_vista_win7_32bit_15.49.htmlhttp://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_vista_win7_64bit_15.49.html

Your link does not address my issue. You refuse to give any honest suggestions. I did try your suggestions and all failed. I would suggest you treat me with courtesy instead of disdain.

No, no browser, I can download, ie8 destroys my download almost immediately it doesnt like graphics,
November 22nd, 2009 7:11am

So no go in IE8 or your other browser? However, it sounds weird thatIE8 would "destroy" graphics. Try running sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt to see if there's any file-level corruption in Windows.

Oh, run as administrator. Anyway, follow the thread. I want to know why I had no issues with Vista but now I have with Win7. I have updated firmware with my netgear router. I know for a fact that both netgear and linksys routers are used at microsoft, although I don't know specifically with my router. With Nvidia, I have the microsoft driver. This particular type of PC is used at microsoft, not that I can swear to this. It's built by one of the HW providers. I could call them again to pump them for help.

wildweasels,Did sfc show any file corruption? Additionally, try pinging a site, i.e., www.bing.com and see if you experience any packet loss.

Are you nuts, you suggested a problem that does not apply. There is no file corruption, now unless you have a helpful suggestion I suggest you go away

I suggested several tips you seem to have ignored. So to recap:Have you updated to the nForce 15.49 drivers?Have you checked for file corruption (how about a memory check to boot)?Have you checked for packet loss issues?Additionally, go try the Adobe Flash 10.1 beta: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

I just read this entire thread several times and I have to admit I don't yet have a solid idea what your system is doing wrong. How about describing what's happening - or not happening - clearly and concisely.Explain it as if the people you are writing to don't know you, don't know what you expect, and don't owe you anything. Please try to understand that while Microsoft maintains a presence here, most of us are just trying to be helpful, on our own time out of the goodness of our hearts. So drop the attitude. -Noel

i think ppl here is getting stuck while loading flash videos and it keeps loading in an ever lasting loop, but in my case i think it might be a networkng issue regarding ISP so every once in a while videos in silverlight and flash format just buffer very slowly..eveytime i have to take measures and change some netoworking behavior in order to change the time of response so my connection recorvers faster from a deep down...anyways kind regards,RR

Have you updated to the nForce 15.49 drivers? Why those specifically. Windows 7 indicates I am up to date and the nVidia site tells me I'm up to date Have you checked for file corruption (how about a memory check to boot)? All checked, no problems found. Ran sfc /scannow. Have you checked for packet loss issues? I was able to download the 100 meg nVidia driver for my graphic card through my browser of choice. Driver updated w/ no issues Additionally, go try the Adobe Flash 10.1 beta: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html and now you recommend a beta player. At least explain your reason.
December 9th, 2009 11:20am

nForce 15.49 are the newest drivers from NVIDIA. Memory issues can manifest in all kinds of ways; lockups, stuttering, BSODs. Windows 7 has a built-in memory checker or you can download Memtest86+: http://www.memtest86.com/download.html Just because a file downloaded doesn't mean you aren't experiencing packet loss; it would just take longer as it has to request the badpackets again. If it's a bug in Flash, it could have been fixed in the beta or at least partially fixed. 10.1 also includes hardware acceleration, i.e., your GPU does the work freeing up your CPU.

Re-describe the problem you are having in detail, and so that people can understand it and you will stand a better chance of having it resolved.Simply implying that something you could do before isn't working now isn't enough. Does the video start? Does it stutter? Are you seeing error messages?-Noel

Try using a older version of flash player like version 9. I have had similar problem in past and it was caused by flash 10. I also use nvidia graphics card. It would even cause BSOD in my case or kill firefox.
December 10th, 2009 4:21am

I gave up on nvidia cards in win 7.. my 512 meg was trash compared to my old ATI 128 card for hulu. with the nvidia CPU would spike for mins at a time, where as the old ati card does not, there was a post the nvidia forum back when I was testing 7 (middle of the summer) which others also stated flash 10 and nvidia did not play nice, hence my testing a second card. and as hulu content is almost all 480p I did not need that nvidia card anyway

Ok folks, this is what I found out after days and days of research:Internet Explorer 8 and Adobe Flash are NOT COMPATIBLE!!! IE8 is 64-bit and Adobe Flash only supports 32-bit. There is no way around this at present time. I recommend using Firefox until Adobe updates their software and save yourself the hassle of trying to "fix" something that cannot be fixed from our end.
January 13th, 2010 8:43am

The default IE is 32-bit (C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe), unless you specifically run the 64-bit copy (C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe) or a 64-bit process invokes IE.The only 64-bit Flash binaries are for Linux, as there isn't a comprehesive default 32-bit emulation layer like Windows has (WoW64).EDIT: Also, there are no official 64-bit builds of Firefox for Windows; just various community forks (which all seem to be outdated anyway). Although, it might be on the roadmap with version 4.
