Windows 7 @ boot unable to load autocheck -- then skipping -- BSOD -- then reboot
problem: had a minor (/major) problem with data partition. HD parameters. Partition one 12 gig -gateway restore partition two 102 mb - gateway boot partition three 123 gig gateway windows 7. partition4 extended with data partition. Backed up every thing with Acronis backup. cleaned hard drive to brand new. restored each partion. booted to windows and received the following it's approximate, cause computers at home and I am at work, at boot it does this "autocheck function not found. Skipping check" hard drive lite is running, then screen blanks, then blue screen, unable to read it all cause it then reboots. I put a clean new mbr on the cleaned up hard drive. I did not restore the old mbr. I also used windows 7 install disk to rescue the system boot up partition incase that was a problem. the same thing happens. I am wondering if I have some kind of boot virus, that now is gone with the redo of the hard drive, but may be stored in the backed up mbr that arconis creates, and if so; the following do not find it. "clamAV, Avast anitvirus, Malwarebytes, spybot, IS 360 security, windows defender and ms mrt.exe. " Any help would be appreciated. I think now, it's mostly to find that virus (if it's a virus / or missing files) and submitt it for virus submission. I have other backups that work fine and correctly, but none of my recent april or may will work. they have that same auto check then blank screen, then to about 5 second blue screen and then reboot. So to reiterate. I have three backups that used to restore an work now with the totally reformated and cleaned hard drive the will not work. So my previous backup of September 2010 works, and I will begin to use it. and load all the programs and stuff even sp1. I think some where between November and February is where my problem started, I just didn't see it as that kind of problem until the first crash of the data. And then I thougt it was only the data partition.

Since the issue occurs before booting into the system, it should not be related to Windows 7. Can you be assure that Acronis is compatible? 2870: Microsoft Windows 7 32/64 Bit Support in Acronis Products http://kb.acronis.com/content/2870 Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. I just suspect that the backup and restore destroy the ATA controller driver, the partition table or the MBR. I suggest you contact Acronis support for more information. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Problem Has turned out to be totally different than expected. Must take up with advancequest and there Partition commander 11 OS boot. The auto check was for it. and the boot record was on the old 100 meg boot partition. by restoring the MBR the boot menu appeared and the system booted. I did not keep a backup of the boot partition since I have the orginal, and Easy BCD which can edit it. Once I had it booted, all I had to do was give it a new MBR getting rid of the Partition commander os boot and it boots fine, as long as I have the first partition as a boot partition. I tried to remove the boot os with partition commander but it did not see the files, because those are supposed to be in the boot partition. After it booted several times I backed it up again . Re partition the hard drive to 60 gig Partition 1, 100 gig partition 2, 80 gig partition 3 and the rest extended partition 4, for data partition. I restored the original gateway premium to partition1 and the restore professional to partition 3, and Linux to partition 3. Premium boots fine as the master with master BCD and active partition. But the Professional 2nd partition, will not boot no matter what I do by itself. It will not boot if it's partition is active. I've tried several times to fix the boot with it as active, and as far as deleting partition one and make it linux ext and then tring to restore the boot record. I then deleted the boot folder and use recover to create a new BCD and boot manager. I fixed the partition boot record. It will not boot. I restored partiton one and It will boot from the BCD of partition One and then strangely will boot from the partition (thats partition 2 that boot menu appears) from the linux grub loader. I give up and said, it boots from partition one, that's good enough. So orginal is fixed
