I can't decipher what difference you suggest there are between the two, but I can tell you that, to install Win7, you need to boot with the DVD in the drive (or put it in and close the tray before BIOS has loaded). Maybe it's possible to start some kind of interactive thingy from inside Windows (as with XP, IIRC), but I'm reasonably sure the actual installation takes place after a reboot.

CAN U INSTALL WINDOWS 7 BY LOGGING ON OR DO U HAVE 2 DO IT THE BOOT CD WAY Yes you could do either way but installing win 7 directly through desktop mode, would tends to left a windows.old folder which consist of your document, programs and windows of your previous OS, but then you could alway remove it later
