Windows 7
My close friend bought a Clone PC a few months ago; it came with the programmes pre-installed. There are no COA attached to the PC but Microsoft Windows & Ultimate and Office 2007 have passed the validation tests and Windows Updates is working fine We checked the programme keys using an online programme and it says retail version. The System Builder insists that the Programmes are legal and they would never be blocked by Microsoft. How can she tell if the key used are Genuine Microsoft Keys?

Tell your friend to go back to the builder and get the COA(s) and the install media or get a refund.http://www.microsoft.com/howtotell/content.aspx?pg=faq&displaylang=enthe cost of a computer is in the software not the hardware.

retail version of windows can only be sold with the complete package...disc / COA / box.You do not have the right to use windows without the COA, the builder is not following the rules. It matters not what the site tells you today, tomorrow the key used to install windows could be blacklisted, this happens all the time.Without that sticker you do not have a license to use windows.Plus when it comes time to do a reinstall you have no media for this.It is all spelled out in the links that Magon and myself posted.

If it is retail version, not possible. There is only Windows 7 Enterprise 90-day Trial version available online now. RC version has expired. Without the media and coa with it, I suggest you try system image backup in case unexpected issues occur so that you need to restore the settings.
