Hi FancyTulip,The software that you run on Vista should run fine on Windows 7. I'm not sure what 'extra software' you feel you may need for the transition. I have to admit that I don't 'upgrade' I always use the full retail version of the product but all that I did was simply put the DVD into the DVD drive and let Windows7 get on with it. I haven't needed 'extra' software; all the software that I use on XP and Vista works fine on my machine with Windows 7. Is Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor the software you wanted? It scans your hardware, devices, and installed programs for known compatibility issues, gives you guidance on how to resolve potential issues found, and recommends what to do before you upgrade.

No, you don't need anything other than the Windows 7 Upgrade. But if you are asking whether the programs you've been running under Vista will continue to work under Windows 7, the answer is that the great majority of them will. However it's always possible that a few of them will not.
