Windows 7
After installing windows 7 as a dual boot with XP Professional, I get a no connection (ethernet cable not plugged in) error on both systems now. The motherboard have the on-board ethernet port. The device manager displays the nic as working.

Hi,It might be 1 of 3 things,(1) Network card not detecting the router or modem ( check that cable is firmly attached at both ends.)(2) Lan Cable defective needs to be replaced.(3) On board network ethernet defective try PCI ethernet card and disable onboard lan in bios. Please bear in mind, that my answer is based on the details given in your post. The more I get the better the answer, Slan go foill, Paul

Hi,Here are more suggestions:1. If there is a router or switcher, please bypass it and connect to DSL modem directly for a test.2. You can take the machine on another network to verify whether the NIC card can work properly.3. If the machine can access Internet successfully, this issue can occur by damaged cable or router. Please replace them to get the issue resolved.4. Otherwise, please upgrade the NIC driver and plug the cable again. Thanks,Novak
