Windows 7
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and have been having some problems with it freezing when I am on line sometimes. When it freezes I can do nothing, I end up having to turn off my computer by pushing the power button and holding til is shuts off. Is this maybe the Windows 7 or my computer itself?

well it is NOT windows 7 it could be spyware / malware / bad hard drive / bad driver / bad ram / bad motherboard.without some error codes to go on not much to tell you.go to the event viewer and see what you find.If you had used a better title..Like "my windows 7 freezes up" you would get a better response.Have you read the other dozens or so threads about freeze ups?ALWAYS provide info on a post.Windows version make / model of all computers / device in the mix.any a/v spyware / malware / inet security software installed things like that.

You can try running an online scanner for checking if your computer has malware or virus. If you do find it, I recommend you re-format your laptop and install an antivirus before going online for the first time. You'll need to backup all data as well. There are plenty of free antivirus and malware protection available. Even MS provides one if your copy of windows is genuine. MS security essentials .

Hi, Besides scanning virus, please also try the following steps. 1. Perform a Clean Boot to check the result. 2. Run Check Disk to fix disk errors. 3. Reset Internet Explorer 8 settings. Thanks, Novak
