Windows 7..... Ending of tasks
Hey All Dont know if anyone else has a problem with ending tasks on W7 RC. In all my apps, if I want to endit , I actually got to go to the processes list and end the process. I am an IT Engineer so I was able to do it, but what about the end-users .... you should be able to close apps by right-clicking and selecting "close, or even just clicking on the close cross on the top right hand corner. These are for apps that have encountered a problem by the way, not apps that are running fine. Hope this msg reaches someone who can bringit tosomeone elses attention who may be involved in the W7 project or something along those lines. Thanks

Hi rcary, You may have a look at the following link. How To Kill Unresponsive Programs without The Task Manager I dont meet the same issue when running Windows 7 RTM. I always close the applications by clicking Close All Windows in the Taskbar. They never hang. You can try it too. Besides, you can try a virus scan. Your computer may be affected by malware. Good luck. Cecilia Zhou

Interresting link, thanks Cecilia. But I agree with the op : an option "Kill task" should be displayed when right clicking on it... it's one of the (many) improvements I'd have hoped to see in Win7. Average users are unable to look for / apply such tricks. Maybe a warning would have to be displayed the first time, to avoid non-IT users to kill everything just "because it's faster", or it could be a (disabled by default) option of the task bar. At least, some registry should allow it.

yeah, Thanks Cecilia ..... it's an interesting way of killing the process. Always good to know the different avenues of performing a task. With Vista, if a program was hanging the option to close the program was always availible ..... but the final version of W7 has not been released yet so im sure this will get sorted out. Again, it could just be the config of my machine as this is the onlyW7install I have worked with. Thanks for the replies guys
