Windows 7- Can not convert RAW Volume file to NTFS
Hello, I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate in my system. I formated all partitions and deleted one partition and left the un-allocated space that way for later use. I was able to install the OS without any problem. After I am done with the installation, I went to Disk Management, tried to create a new volume out of un-allocated space. But while doing it I got many error messages and not able to make it as NTFS file format. It shows RAW Volume now. I tried to make it FAT32 and I was able to do that. Please help me to create this partition in NTFS format without re-formatting it. I have few screenshot(Wrodpad format) of the process that I followed and the error messages that I recieved. List of Error messages that I receive Check to see that the disk and drive are coonected properly, make sure that the disk is not read only, and then try again. For more information search Help for read only files and how to change them. Windows could not format the disk..etc Thank You & Best Wishes Ashish

Windows creates a small partition at the front of the disk for the cold boot loader. The next partition is the C: drive and there is usually a tiny sliver left at the end of the disk for the hot fix sector swap. My advise, start over with a fresh install and do not much with the partitions My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT Remote Assistance is available for a fee. Hi, First, I would like to share the following documents with you. Basic disk storage supports partition-oriented disks. A basic disk is a physical disk that contains primary partitions, extended partitions, or logical drives. Partitions and logical drives on basic disks are also known as basic volumes. You can create up to four primary partitions, or three primary partitions and one extended partition, that contain logical drives. I suspect you create more than three primary partitions and one extended partition. So you cannot create it. Please check it. Also, please capture the Disk Management screen and upload to Skydrive, then edit the premission to public. This can let us understand what kind of issue you encounter better. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
