Windows 7, user profile service failed logon
I have a Dell E6500 with Windows 7 Enterprise edition, with only a admin account. When I typed my password it gave me ERROR: User Profile Service failed logon. Can anyone help

Verify the User Profile Service =================== 1. Click Start, type Services.msc into Search bar and press Enter. 2. Double click User Profile Service. 3. Change the Startup type to Automatic, click Stop and Start to restart the service. In-place Upgrade ============ 1. Start the computer. 2. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive. 3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate: a. If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears. Click Install now. b. If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps: b1. Click Start, click Run, type Drive:\setup.exe, and then click OK. Note Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive. b2. Click Install now. 4. When you reach the Which type of installation to you want? screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows 7 According to the problem description, I find the following article for you. I tried both "Verify the User Profile Service " and "In-place Upgrade" and both didnt work for me. What did work was booting to Safe Mode and running a System Restore. I think it was caused by a DirectX or Shockwave update. Thanks for the help .

I also found the following in my application event log: Windows cannot copy file C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia... This was probably due to a recent Flash update that set security on the folder. My fix was to reset security for all children of the Roaming folder.
