Windows 7, uTorrent and networking issues
I have spotted a networking problem when using uTorrent (ver 2.0) and Win 7 Professional x86. The internet connection seems to die, at least for new connections. uTorrent keeps working, so does for example streaming media like Spotify. But creating any new connections, like surfing the web is completely out of the question. The browser either times out or says it can't find the server. I first thought it was a problem with my router, a Netgear WGR614 (cheap) and bought a Asus RT N16 which have gotten good reviews. Same thing with the new one. What is odd is that internet stops working for everyone on the network, if I download something with Computer A, Computer B can't establish new connections either. Doesn't seem to be an entirely local problem since all computers are having problems. All computers are behind a NAT. uTorrent uses uPnP port forwarding. Any chance Win 7 and uTorrent are somehow screwing up the router? Bug in uPnP protocol? Have not yet tested to manually open ports for each machine when using uTorrent. I have seen others having problems with this also, problem arise when they have installed Win 7 (worked on their XP install). No one has been able to give a good explanation of what is wrong or a solution to it though.

Hi, When does the issue begin to occur? Does it occur after installing the uTorrent program on Windows 7? This issue can occur by several factors, such as incorrect program settings, incompatible third party programs or virus. Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Upgrade the virus definition on the machine and perform a complete scanning. 2. Reset Internet Explorer 8 settings. 3. Temporarily turn off firewall on the problematic machine. 4. Uninstall the uTorrent program completely and reinstall it for a test. 5. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking to check the result. Thanks, Novak
