Windows 7, Internet Explorer 9 - Enhanced Security Configuration
We recently had a Win Server 2008 server added to our network. I am an admin on that server. I have a roaming profile in the network. After doing some work on the server, I logged off, and then logged onto my own Windows 7 workstation. Now, when I run IE9 on my workstation, my home page has been replaced with a page whose URL is res://iesetup.dll/HardAdmin.htm. The page is entitled "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled." IE on my Win7 workstation is functionally disabled, for example, I am unable to go to the Forums in Technet.Microsoft.com. (I am posting this from my computer at home.) I have had a colleague log onto my computer using his domain account, and IE worked fine for him ESC was not enabled. I have tried logging in to my computer with a local computer user account, and IE worked fine then too. So, the problem seems to be with my domain account. I can find articles that explain how to disable IE ESC on Win Server 2008. I went back and did that for administrators. But it did not solve the problem on my own workstation. When I do a Google search about this problem, I run across other people reporting the same problem, but all of the answers say that ESC does not apply to Win7. They then go ahead and explain how to disable it on Win Server. For the time being, I have switched to Google Chrome for web browsing. I would like to get back to IE. Help! Thanks, Jim

Hi, It could be affected by group policy. Please check if you have set any Internet Explorer related policy. IE-ESC is not a feature on Windows 7, you can refer to this article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff715406.aspxNiki Han TechNet Community Support

Actually I think that what you've done of using Chrome (or any other browser for the matter) is by far the best thing to get rid of the useless IE. Anyway, my guess is that this setting is really hidden in Win7 and roaming with you when you logon on the server (not sure really, but seems to fit what you're saying). Try if you disable the enhanced security on the server and let that change roam back to your desktop to see if that changes anything.
