Whilst running on battery my LT closed down. I plugged into mains and got "SMART failure predicted on hard disk 4- WDC WD6400BEVT-22AORTO-(S1)
Imm back up etc.
Firstly please can you explain this to me.
My next problem is that when I try to create a system image to an external hard drive I get an error message of 0x80070001.
I think I managed to create a recovery disc.
Please help as soon as possible, because I am afraid to turn off in case it won't boot up again.
Thanks in advance.

Not being able to see or touch the computer I am guessing that your hard drive is failing, the error when attempting to create a system image is not good. I suggest you backup any and all data and files that you can before shutting down, then I suggest you
take it to a shop, or if you are confident in your abilities download the manufactureres diagnostic utility (or third party) and test the drive. In all likelyhood you will need to purchase a new HDD and perform a clean install if you do not obtain a good system
image.
One thing to think about, if you replace the hard drive you may need to order restoration media from HP if you did not create the restoration media when you first purchased the computer, the image from the factory is on the HDD and will not be available
due to the HDD failure.
