Windows 64-bit Media
All-I recently attended the Microsoft "New Efficiency" seminar. There was great information about Windows 7 and we were also given a copy of Windows7 Ultimate 32-bit. I know, I know....beggars can't be choosers, but is there a way to work with Microsoft to get a 64-bit version? Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

See: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/e9d336b4-e18e-4eb8-b421-351049de889e The fact that they only handed out 32bit DVD's really bites - especially given the crowd they were catering to. Like issuing a Yugo to an F1 driver for a race. I took a half day off work to attend. Had I known that the carrot was rotten, I would have stayed at work! I'm just hoping that the key we were issued with our 32bit install disks will work with a 64bit distribution DVD when it officially comes out in Oct. Cheers!

Hi Windows7Pro, You can also contact the sponsor of the Microsoft "New Efficiency" seminar. In the meantime, Microsoft announced the availability of a 90-day free trial of the final RTM version of Windows 7 Enterprise edition, if you want to give it a try, please refer to the following site: Windows 7 Enterprise 90-day Trial Good Luck! Nina The difference is that what was given out isn't a trail - it is a fully licensed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. I for one don't want to install a trail version of Enterprise just to have to wipe it in 90 days. What sponsor are you referring to Nina? Microsoft is the sponsor. That's why we are posting here. What email address do you have in mind? I've searched, but there doesn't seem to be any kind of contact email associated with the seminar's web site: http://www.microsoft.com/business/thenewefficiency/ Perhaps you have one in mind we can use? Thanks!

Telling people to get the 90 day trial when we got the full 32bit ultimate and all we asked for was the full 64bit ultimate is a little cold.

Hi Supercharged_Z06, I see that MS sponsor the seminar. Meanwhile, as we know that MS have several different support teams and departments, I mean you can contact the one who takes charge of the seminar. I do not have the contact email. I am sorry for not clarifying it clearly. Nina

I am sorry for not clarifying it clearly. Nina I realize you are trying to help Nina, but your post really doesn't help at all and contributes absolutely nothing. Telling me that MS has many support teams and departments and to contact the one that was in charge of the seminar is of no help. I know MS is a large organization - but I have no clue as to what part of MS was responsible for the seminar. The seminar's web site also offers no clues. There is no mention of any contact or group. I've already tried to contact the MS rep that was at the launch event and that gave us the launch presentation. His name was Mike Benkovich. I emailed him 5 days ago, but he hasn't responded. Those of you that were at the launch and are in the same fix regarding the 32bit vs. 64bit media may want to email him as well. (He runs a blog @ http://www.benkotips.com/ and his contact info is there.) If and when I finally do get a response or have some meaningful info to add, I'll let others here know via a post.

I found a contact addy on the new efficiency site and sent a question on if I could get a cd or link to a 64b version, here is my reply, I'll also post up if it goes anywhere... "Dear Brad, Thank you for your email. We are looking in to your request and will follow up with you as soon as possible. Please let us know if we can assist you with anything further. Mike Benkovich got back to me - MS is looking into it and he promised to post an answer on his blog when they figure out how they will get the 64bit media to us. Text of the email I received: "The key you got should activate either 32 or 64 bit versions. Were working on getting the media for the x64 bit version, but I dont have an answer to how were going to do that. Ill be posting on my blog when I get an answer. Does that help? Thanks, Mike" The good news is that the keys we were given WILL work with a 64bit Win 7 install (as some of you with MSDN access have already confirmed in a related thread), we'll just have to get a hold of the 64bit media. I imagine they'll either provide a disk swap or a download link to obtain it. So, keep an eye on his blog for an answer: http://www.benkotips.com/ Cheers!

got this from microsoft yesterday. I had emailed the new efficency registration team asking if I could get a 64 bit media: Hello, Thank you for your patience while we looked in to your request to exchange your software for the 64 bit software. Unfortunately, we have been informed that only the 32 bit software was distributed at the events, and we are unable to make exchanges for the 64 bit version. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please contact me if you have any additional questions. Best Regards, Krista
