Windows 32bit Vista Ultimate
error 8007000D for a sound driver device - first it said it was a recommended update, then after it failed it said I didn't need it, so...??? I've looked at a lot of related posts, tried to manually install via manufacturer website (its not even listed) and driver update programs and just google-ing it - nothing works. I actually found an update (for XP) that installed and the sound worked (even though vista said it wasn't compatible) but it had some feed back and background noise and was laggy and glitchy; was very anoying and gave me a headache =( so I uninstalled it for like the 8th time. -Also, I don't know if this is related or not: my computer only allows one recording device to work at a time (I have like 7 of them), doesn't show my headphones, and the digital output doesn't work - even though it says 'working'. Why can't someone make devices compatible with different os like you can change the compatibility for files????????? That actually should have been done first - drivers have always been a major problem, besides even if you make it "compatible" it still won't work half the time - what kind of "compatibility is that??? I think microsoft should offer free scans to see if your computer software/hardware is compatible with vista so people don't have to spend $200 on it just to find out that all the money you spent on - not just the os but the other software and hardware too - is a total waste. I'm a bit of a nerd (at least to the people I know) but still, trying to figure out all this technical ____ that's completely unorganized and un-indexed is rediculous - even the manufacturer's don't know whats going on. vista is confused - I miss my xp, but not the lame security. This does explain why xp still costs $130 and vista is $190 brand-new. $60? =.= It seems that either everyone in the computer industry is either slow, lazy, or stupid because nothing works on vista and it doesn't seem like anybody is doing anything about it - just wait for Windows 7?? screw that, fix what you got, its probably gonna bust just like vista. any ideas? I would pay for a compatibility pack for my drivers.

Hi Camo8, thanks for the post. I fully understand the inconvenience you have encountered. Regarding the driver compatibility issue, please understand that those drivers on Microsoft Update are provided by third party hardware manufacturer. Before releasing those drivers, hardware manufacturer should have tested them on difference OS, like Windows XP, Windows Vista. After making sure these drivers are working properly on difference specs of computers, then they are released to Microsoft Update and its official site. If we can make sure the driver has such kind of compatibility issue, we can contact with hardware manufacturer directly. If you encounter similar error on Microsoft Update in the future, you can contact our support group directly via the following link: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=6527 Thank you.Sean Zhu - MSFT
