I run IT for a 70 people who are all running Windows 8.1.  I'm not seeing the Windows 10 reservation screen on their machines to which I have seen and activate don my home machines.

All updates are pushed out via my WSUS but the required update (KB3035583) is not showing in my WSUS.  It is available as an optional update if I choose to search Window's updates for updates. 

Naturally I want this to be pushed out via WSUS to save time.

Any ideas would be much appreciated as I can't find anything online.

This update only applies to following Windows editions:

• Windows 8.1 Pro
  Windows 8.1
  Windows 7 Service Pack 1, when used with:
  Windows 7 Ultimate
  Windows 7 Professional
  Windows 7 Home Premium
  Windows 7 Home Basic
  Windows 7 Starter

If the computers in your company are running Windows 8.1 Enterprise edition, it will not apply to your computers.

For Enterprise edition, please manully download the installation ISO:

Thank you Andrea that is exactly right.

Kate Li you have mentioned all of the available editions. I have around 100 desktops/laptops with 90% running Windows 8.1 Pro and 10% Windows 7 pro, none of these are enterprise editions. 

The whole point of WSUS running from one of my 2012 servers is to roll out updates to these machines.  It rolled out other updates yesterday but not the required update for Windows 10 reservation.

I'm struggling to understand why this is so hard for anyone on the internet to confirm or answer this issue.

I too, have the same issue. All 170 machines in my company have Windows 7 pro but none of them have the update to reserve.

I also very much want to know the answer to your question. We have 3,000+ machines at our institution. We were just looking in our WSUS server today trying to figure out how to prevent this update from being pushed out when I found your post. The update is also not showing up in our WSUS server. This update would cause countless calls to our help desk if pushed out. Any upgrade to Windows 10 at our institution will have to be a very methodical upgrade.

Please see that you also won't get it if your computer is joined to a domain.

That's why the WSUS will not find the update for your computer.

Ok so your answer can't be right because what you are essentially saying is that no business user in the world can upgrade to Windows 10 using the reservation system.

No business runs their site desktops/laptops standalone and not on a network with a domain. This has to be the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

In Windows update if I choose to search for updates through the online method and not WSUS then the update is seen but me showing 100 users how to do this isn't viable let alone the user in the above post who has 3000+ users.

I need more help than this please if you are unable to provide the solution.

I am sorry, it appears you did not read the original post at all. Your answer is, not to put too fine a point on it, useless.

The last thing anyone in IT wants is people doing themselves and breaking stuff. IT (much like dentists) are already unloved and when users break stuff, it is invariably their fault.

One of the files deposited by KB3035583 in the folder "GWX" -- some have interpreted that as "Get Windows 10" -- is "config.xml," which includes a long list of instructions on how the ad-based notification system will work.

The additions were atop the previous (EnableEnterpriseSku)false(/EnableEnterpriseSku) and (EnableDomainJoined)false(/EnableDomainJoined), that blocked the ad campaign from Windows Enterprise, the corporate edition available only through volume licensing deals, and barred it from Windows devices that connect to a network domain. The latter would rule out the notifications' appearance on devices running the Pro edition, such as Windows 7 Pro, when they're joined to a corporate domain.

I have taken about 2 hours to find the answer to why the Reserve W10 App is not available on my small business network.

Why cannot Microsoft have stated this clearly on the W10 info pages that the upgrade offer is only available to non network enabled computers.

Instead you are directed in ever widening circles in an effort to find the solution.

Sometimes Microsoft marketing initiatives get too "clever" - more honesty please!

We cannot find it in WSUS either and have already had several systems ON OUR DOMAIN crash due to the GWX downloading the install for Windows 10.

It was just what we needed to get the OK to setup a WSUS server but now we cannot even find KB3035583 in WSUS in order to approve for uninstall nor block.

This is becoming a serious issue!!! We have used PSEXEC to uninstall many of the instances but we need ti insure that NONE of our systems get this patch again.  Over 150 systems here and no efficient way to block this malicious patch.

We would greatly appreciate a definitive answer on how we add KB3035583 to WSUS so we can prevent catastrophic impact to our productivity.
