Attempted to install the Windows 10 Preview on my HP Slate 7.

Started installation and relaunched after reboot at Windows Update. Got to 39% download and then stalled for about 20 mins before I tried to check it. Found explorer locked up and unresponsive... Killed and restarted and all OK, but soon as I attempt to click on the Windows Update link in Computer Properties explorer locks up/stops responding...

Hard rebooted device and same result.

Am I missing something here?? How do I fix this BS then??

Why are you placing Windows 10 problem in Windows 8.1 General forum? There is specific forum for W 10 where you have higher chance to meet someone who encountered the same problem.

As this is test operating system I recommend to download fresh copy and install it on clean computer (or clean all partition during installation).

Whenever you solve any problem, try to provide more material evidence, namely exact wording of errors and error codes.

There may be specific problem with computer used and this is why I recommend to address specific HP forum.

So what's your problem platform now, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10?

Please right click This PC->Properties->under Windows edition section, check your Windows edition.

And I have to tell you, if you installed the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10074, there is no old Windows Update applet. It's a new style.
