Windows - System Error
I'm running Windows XP Home and for over a week now I've been getting this message: "Windows - System Error A duplicate name exists on the network." I'm not on any network of any kind. Once in a while, I'll hear this 'real loud' tone. Loud enough to knock the socks off of anyone. There are two people who use this laptop. My wife and I. And, we have our own username. We are not on a network of any kind. I'm sure the solution is simple, so would you please let me know A.S.A.P. Thank you.Mel 2 people need an answerI do too

If the system is on the internet then it's on a network. And, the internet is not a safe network. What is the installed antivirus/security suite; is it's subscription current ? What was the result when the system was last scanned by said security software ? For a second opinion, please download, save, and then installMalwarebytes anti-malware ( MBAM ). Click theDownload free version button to obtain the free version.Allow MBAM to update it's definitions during it's installation. When it's installedand updated, boot the system to Safe Mode. Do a Full scan with MBAM once in Safe Mode ( the Default scan is Quick. Please do theFull scan ) When the scan is done a log file should open. If it does not, click the Show results button. Click theRemove selected button after you ensure that each detected object is checked.Boot the system back to normal Windows mode and post back with the MBAM scan results, please.MowGreen Update Services - Consumer Security
