Windows * Memory - Hardware Reserved

Hi,

I'm running Windows 8 with the 8.1 upgrade (64bit) on a 1 year old AMD based machine.

Recently, after loading updates, it came up with a boot error and went into that brilliant self repair loop. The error I was getting was Bad_Config_Sys_Info. I found a solution on line by going to the command prompt as using 'bootrec /rebuildbcd'. That got rid of the error and the loop BUT now I've got 7.8Gb of my 8Gb of Ram 'Hardware Reserved'! Can't operate a system of 256Mb of Ram.

I've tried going into Configsys and un-checking the Max Memory but the 'Apply' box is greyed out and selecting 'Okay' doesn't seem to change anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to your description, how did you find out that 7.8 GB of memory is reserved for hardware

Please use Resource Monitor to check the amount of Hardware Reserved memory .Also, please upload the screenshot.
