I get this code when trying to install updates, it has been since june 16th,2009 since all updated were able to install, now none will install

Hi 800736B2 ERROR_SXS_INVALID_ACTCTXDATA_FORMAT the application binding data format is invalid I suggest that you disable the security programs , anti-virus and any malware. suggest : running system update readiness tool to see if that resolves the error http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 if issue persists Run system file checker http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en hope it helps N!KH!L

HI have you downloaded system update readiness tool, its available for windows 7 and vista also, try it. scroll to find download options for windows vista and 7 from above mentioned link.(validation required) once again RUN sfc/scannow, when stopped perform the steps Open an elevated command prompt Type the following command, and then press ENTER: findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair member file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt Type the following command, and then press ENTER: edit sfcdetails.txt check what are the files affecting the issues, upload them here

Installed and still unable to install updates.

Manually download the update files and then install it from the hard disk. Please pick the updates from the website of Microsoft Download Center: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx General Windows Update Troubleshooting The following outlines how to stop services pertaining to Windows Update, rename system folders, register related DLL files, and then restart the previously mentioned services. This troubleshooting generally applies to all Windows Update related issues. Stopping services pertaining to Windows Update 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. 2. If you receive a notification from User Account Control simply click Continue. 3. Hello,I seem to have the same issue. Tried all of the above, no success.As far as I remember my problem started when I canceled an optional update. After I realized that this language pack was 275 MB I decided not to install and canceled the installation process.Since then some updates do not install, some others do install just fine though.System charcteristics:Vista Ultimate 64-bit, MS Forefront, no other anti-virus or malware installedSFC stops at 21% with the following:--------------------------Beginning verification phase of system scan.Verification 21% complete.Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.Thanks!
