Windows7 can't join WS2003 R2 Domain
I was originally able to join my Windows7 Pro to my 2003 Domain after resolving the DNS issue. Everything was joined successfully and a user account was created successfully. I was able to create a mapped drive as well to an IP address of a File Server on the Domain as well. Basically, everything was working correctly. A few weeks ago, my user reported that the network drive was no longer connecting. He was still plugged directly to the network using LAN. Couldn't figure out what was happening and did a few troubleshooting steps thanks to online forum. Here are things I've done: 1) Delete the computer out of AD 2) Changed the Network Domain to a WorkGroup Domain. 3) Logged in as the Local Admin and went to join the network again, but it failed after entering a correct Domain Admin login. 4) Restarted the Server hosting AD and repeated step 3 but still not working. I am not able to join the Domain again, any advice? I have verified that the DNS is correct to the Domain Controller but still no dice. I even tried to rename the Computer so that it doesn't match with any previous accounts. The old computer name has been deleted from AD and no longer visible. I have restored the computer to a previous workpoint so that the user can continue to log into his account and access his files but this doesn't resolve the networking problem. The user has lots of issues trying to log in to this domain account on the workstation now and has to restart multiple times before the password is authenticated. I tried to change his password for his account in AD but the new password will not work at all. Any help would be well received. I have been at this for weeks and am really stuck now. I would hate to have to reimage the workstation again. Help please!

Hi, According the issue, I wonder that did you get any error message when you failed to join domain? I recommend that you may perform a Clean boot then try to join domain again in order to narrow down whether this problem is caused by any third-party software. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG. Also, since you have restore your client, please try to use netdom join command to add a machine account from DC: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781853(WS.10).aspx For example, “netdom join /d:devgroup.contoso.com mywksta /OU:OU=Dsys,OU=Workstations,DC=devgroup,DC=contoso,DC=com”. If the issue persists, please upload the Netsetup.log file in %systemroot%\Debug for analyzing. You may upload the log via SkyDrive, then post a link here. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive?wa=wsignin1.0Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
