Windows7 Blue screen of death
I just fresh installed windows 7 Pro 1 week ago, i'm already having a BSOD. I'm assuming its a driver issue but can't tell for sure. I'm on a gateway T1616 with 2G ram, All network adapters seems properly installed (Realtek). . I have to mention that i just changed a debugging information on startup and recovery from Kernal memory dump to small memory dump (128 KB) thinking this would help! Here's the error maybe someone can help with that: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 124 BCP1: 00000000 BCP2: 84EF28FC BCP3: 00000000 BCP4: 00000000 OS Version: 6_1_7600 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\112709-27015-01.dmp C:\Users\Tariq\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-82796-0.sysdata.xml Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409

I've been trying to solve this issue all night last night but no luck yet, i tried downloading the driver from themanufacturer and doesn't work, i followed this threathttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprohardware/thread/db12bf08-3360-4511-871b-8fccc73b75ad?prof=required but i get data error (cyclic redundant check) and then tried the windows update and end up with the 80070017 code Anyways i have 4 min dump files in my sky drive i just didn't know how to share a link here so you have access. Thank you for your time

I took a look at the minidump files and they appear to be incomplete as data appears to be missing.Because you are also receiving CRC errors I would suggest to run a chkdsk /r on the hard drive.Running a chkdsk /r has the potential to take a long time and you may want to back up any critical data beforehand as a general precaution. The Stop Error you are receiving is a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (BugCheck 124):http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb725851.aspxThe first parameter is 0x0 - machine check exception. The following MS KB article has info on that:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329284The article is written for Windows XP but the basics would apply to Windows 7.The problem is more likely hardware than software and with the CRC errors take a look at the hard drive first. Also, check the Event Viewer for any errors or warnings pertaining to hardware.

Thank you Auggy, Do you think it's easier to run an upgrade or maybe even a fresh download? and then try to update the driver following the above threat?

I would suggest to try a clean install rather than an upgrade. But perform a chkdsk /r first if you haven't already.

I have seen firsthand how crashes could occur under Windows 7 with the pushed drivers via this portal. Make sure you use ONLY the drivers from the manufacturers site and disregard the hardware drivers from Windows Update.
