Window was unable to finad a certificate to log you on to the network
How do I solve this problem? I am trying to sign on to an existing internet connection from my XP. This is the first time I have tried to attach to this internet connection from this laptop. It is a secure network but I was never asked for the ID info. All I get is "Validating Identity" What's the fix? I have no trouble signing on to other networks.1 person got this answerI do too

Hi Myron Biggar, Try the following: First, click on the wireless icon in your taskbar and under Related Tasks, choose Change advanced settings. Now click on the Wireless Networks tab and select the network in the list at the bottom. Click on Properties once you select the wireless network that is having problems. Click on the Authentication tab and now uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box. If the box was checked, then that was why you were getting the unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network message because Windows is looking for one, but your wireless router is not setup for certificate security. I have this same problem. The "Enable IEEE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>network" box is unchecked. Router WRT160N. XP Pro operating sys. Have had the router about 3 months worked flawlessly until today when I turned it on and got the "validating identity" message but no connection. Any other suggestions? TomP

Still unable to connect and get a new message: limited or no connectivity. Before all this the signal strength is great and said "unable to find a certificate to log on" but this is a computer we have been using for years with the same equipment.

You receive a "Limited or no connectivity" message on a computer that is connected to the Internet by a DSL modem or by a cable modem after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892896How to Troubleshoot and Fix Windows XP SP2Limited or No Connectivity Error Messagehttp://www.pchell.com/support/limitedconnectivity.shtmlIf you have a router/modem try to Power Down and leave for about two minutes and do the same for the Machine. Reboot/Power Up the Router and wait for the same length of time then power up the machine and see if that will help getting the IP address. nass -- http://www.nasstec.co.uk

the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box is unchecked, I still receive the same error message. I have just repaired a Toshiba Satellite laptop, this is the first time I am trying to connect to my wireless network. I'm stumped, it appears the repairs were for naught, without wireless connection, laptop is now headed for the trash. Thanks anyway.

I'm having the same issue. Whenever I un-check IEEE 802.1x authentication, change from WEP to WPA, it defaults back to that authentication being checked and WEP being in place. I didn't have this issue until I had to reformat my machine (Toshiba Satellite A52). I updated Windows XP to service pack 3 and whatever else was required. I just don't get it and don't want to knock my wireless protection down over one pc.
