Window 7 mapped drive contents not refreshing
We have a share setup on windows 2008 server where users can scan from multifunction printers to be drop into this share. When they scan something to the share and go back to their PC to retrieve the electronic copy, the changes are not updated in the mapped drive. I can see the file if I mapped to the share from their PC \\server\share also if I disconnect and reconnect the mapped drive. If you check this post I am having the same issue but no resolution was posted. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/d50c2e66-773f-4cc2-9f71-646c56a850fb If anyone experienced this issue and have a resolution please advise thanks

If you see them it's an explorer issue otherwise a communication/cache issue. Wolfgang

This doest happen often, I informed one of the users to let me know when the file operation is not updated. I will check to see if share update are visible in dir command. Will get back to you soon

I tried the dir command and i do not see the files. Disconnecting and reconnecthing the only way to update the file or wait about 15 to 20 minutes and files will be updated on the PC.

Has anybody found a fix for this? I can routinely duplicate this problem on multiple Windows 7 Professional 64bit and the server is a Windows 2008 R2. Here is my senario: Copying files to folder named "Test" on a mapped drive from Computer 1 and need to view them on mapped drive on Computer 2. - If Computer 2 had "Test" folder open in Explorer already, files will immediately appear. - If Computer 2 didn't have "Test" folder open in Explorer, the files won't appear. Selecting "Refresh" or F5 won't make the files appear. The only way to make them appear without a restart or a very long wait is to delete or copy new file into folder from Computer 1 while viewing it in Computer 2 or rename/copy & paste file on Computer 1 and then select refresh.

Miya Yao, this is not the fix, as posters below have indicated. I have the same problem with a client.

I believe this article will lead you to the right solution. Basically disabling SMB2 on the server solves this issue. The article references the second link. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/947489ae-dc86-45f0-ad5e-463a62e1d59f http://laslow.net/2011/01/31/server-2008-r2-and-windows-7-client-smb2-share-refresh-issue/
